Mercedes-Benz fashion week presents a wide range of designers from all over the world
While watching this years Fashion week- these are my observations...Enjoy!!
MaxAzria
MaxAzria showed off his new collection to a packed tent. Distinct from the BCBG/MaxAzria show, the collection had a “boudoir” theme that played out in silky fabrics and simple silhouettes. Every curve of the extremely thin models’ bodies were visible through the thin fabric, and the subdued, beige palette did not detract from the shape underneath. The collection minimal in almost every way: from the simplicity of the garments to the small number of pieces he showed. Standout pieces included a billowy, draped robe and classic, silk sun-dress; his pieces were beautiful for their simplicity and texture but lacking in originality.
Summary: Pretty but boring.
J. Mendel
Coming right on the heels of MaxAzria’s lingerie-like collection, J Mendel offered a refreshing amount of structure in his collection. The femininity of his clothes called out to the glamorous women of bygone eras. the structured waists and fitted skirts gave way pleated, flouncy hemlines that caught the eye as the curvy models sashayed down the runway. The collection showcased the kind of coolly elegent clothes that never go out of style in a color palette that never strayed far from neutral. Expensive and classic, not trendy or mod.
Summary: Structured yet feminine clothes will draw oohs and ahhs whatever the decade may be.
Sabyasachi
A mix of many things, Sabyasachi was the only designer whose models wore flat, sporty shoes instead of sky-high heels. His collection was a mix of military patterns, androgynous traditional silhouettes, and political symbols. His previous playfulness with color was lacking in his Spring 2008 collection, but a hitherto unseen use of religious and communist symbols was present on many of the pieces of his collection. He mixed Western and Indian sensibility: skinny pant-style churidars and long, flowy tunic kameezes. His collection evoked a politically-motivated adventure in the Rajasthan desert. It was am interesting, unusual collection for a younger woman looking to make a statement about the world she lives in.
Summary: Great if you’re a young political activist in the desert. Not necessarily translatable to the real world.
Naeem Khan
A fantastic fusion of Western silhouettes with Indian pattern. The shapes of the clothes were classic, enduring and flattering, and the color palette was thankfully bolder than the ubiquitous beige. The clothes were recognizable as a nod to the golden age of Hollywood and the sheath dresses, flirty jackets and stunningly regal evening gowns exuded glamour. Despite the familiar shapes, the clothes felt inventive because of Khan’s strategic use of prints, color and draping. The true gem of the collection was Khan’s most fearless: a bold goddess gown with a glittering neckline.
Summary: When East meets West, the sum is far greater than the parts. Absolutely fabulous.

which one is your favourite? which one is is way expensive and classy?
BCBG is definetely way better than Guess. If you're looking for chic, style and cute, go for BCBG. Um, just looking at Guess advertistment, it can tell it's a shop for let's say, women who should close their legs. Paris Hilton in particular.
